Preparing for Opensimulator Community Conference 2013

 OpenSimulator Community Conference kicks off within 72 hours! Our OpenSim “Real to Virtual; Virtual to Real” team  just finished helping out with a load testing session of the Conference grid. It was great to see virtual world colleagues from around the real life globe especially the ones from Canada (i.e. Buffy Bye, Virtual World Operations at Team Synergy Moon and John Lester, Chief Learning Officer at ReactionGrid Inc). Only in a 3D virtual environment will you find such a diverse population… researchers, university professors, developers, programmers, teachers, real life “moon travelers”, and the list goes on. Regardless the background, industry, or career path, each virtual world user has integrated 3D virtual worlds into their real life work. Technology is so fascinating!!As we are prepping for the conference, I must finish prepping for my oral presentation about my Kitely-based program, CHARE Village. Topic: Community HIV/AIDS Resource Exchange (CHARE) Project goes Beyond: Capacity Building, Awareness, and Training through OpenSim Integration.Although registration is closed, there will be live streaming of the conference sessions. You can register for the live streaming  of the conference that will be available via UStream.  This will also be free. In the meantime, here are some photos taken during the load test which was a workout indeed… the excitement of “Real to Virtual to Real communications, connections, and collaborations trump any real life or virtual-based challenge. The learning opportunity leaves me in awe! Now I must try to get my Kitely appearance into the OpenSimulator Conference grid. As a followup to the conference, the “Real to Virtual; Virtual to Real” team will be conducting a “Real to Virtual; Virtual to Real” workshop in Baltimore, Maryland (USA)  on Sept. 27th during Social Innovation Week.Wow… I am virtually excited but a bit nervous… It can get so lonely at the “head of the curve” (smiles).
