Kitely opens their marketplace for business
Sarvana and I (Sally) are so excited about the opening of the Kitely Marketplace. I am “out of this world’ excited because I have a store in the Marketplace… SarVonne Creations Etc. The Marketplace gives me an opportunity to offer my real life photographs and vintage reproduction art prints, ‘PhotoArt’ within the virtual-vased community. Kudos to the entire Kitely team!

Ilan Tochner, CEO of Kitely, dropped me an e-mail on Friday August 30th to let me know the Kitely Marketplace is now open for business. There’s also an official announcement from the Kitely team on their blog as well, which is recommended reading for those interested in the Marketplace.
First announced at the start of the year, the Kitely Marketplace has taken eight months to reach the point of launch – and with good reason. The Kitely team have been working to develop an online experience which is initially available within Kitely, but which can be expanded in time to support other OpenSim grids.
The Market combines features familiar to those used to using the SL Marketplace or markets such as the (now defunct) Apez and Metaverse Exchange: items can be browsed on-line, then purchased (using Kitely Credits (KCs) or US dollars), prior to being delivered directly to the…

Preparing for OpenSimulator Community Conference 2013
As real life challenges bring about time for reflection, the upcoming OpenSimulator Community Conference 2013 brings about time for preparation. The OpenSimulator Community Conference is an annual conference that focuses on the community centered around the OpenSimulator (OS) software. The first OpenSimulator Community Conference will take place online over the weekend of September 7th – 8th, 2013. It will feature keynote sessions, presentations, workshops, social events, and exhibits. The Conference will be seen in real time within the 3D virtual environment and real life live streaming (via UStream) as well as being recorded.
The Conference has its very own specially designed grid which has been load tested in preparation for the Conference. For my real life colleagues who ask… “What is a grid?” The Hypergrid Business article, “What is a grid?” has been quite helpful in providing a concise explanation. For me, a grid is a virtual world in which a virtual community of one or more has been established. These communities are constantly increasing! According to Maria Korolov, editor and publisher of Hypergrid Business, the top 40 OpenSim grids have reached a new record of 27,608 regions. Another reason for the excitement about attending the upcoming OpenSimulator Community Conference 2013.
Recently, I teleported into the OpenSimulator Community Conference Grid in preparation for my oral presentation about Community HIV/AIDS Resource Exchange (CHARE) Project activities based in Kitely. With the assistance and voice of my real life person, I will be presenting as Sally S. Cherry, MT(ASCP) in the Social and Communities track. My first look around the designated landing area within the Conference grid was amazing. The invigorating colors, easy–to–navigate layout, and well-crafted structures were “out of this world”… the real life world that is. This is a major benefit of building and working in a virtual world… your creative imagination has the freedom to soar beyond the physical realm. There are few appearances, structures or objects that can not “materialize“ within the virtual environment. Thus an ideal platform for diverse applications of 3D virtual world technology.
The Conference is being organized as a joint production by the Overte Foundation and AvaCon, Inc. The official hashtags of the conference are #OSCC13 and #OSCC. You are invited to attend…
